Stadtboden is a beer bar and restaurant located in central Vienna. After a day trip to Bratislava (recommend!), we found it after a Google maps search of where we could eat dinner en route to heading to our AirBnb for the night. The restaurant serves a fair amount of classic Austrian and Viennese food – think Wiener Schnitzel – but they had a halloumi burger on the menu alongside a few other vegetarian dishes that were marked as such.
The halloumi burger consists of the cheese “patty”, hummus, red pepper, onion, and eggplant on a bun. The bread was quite good and all of the ingredients seemed fresh. The ratios of each ingredient were proper as well. I was surprised by how much I liked the hummus with the halloumi, though there’s no way around the fact that the hummus will squish out as you eat and make a bit of a mess. The burger could have used a little something to provide a more distinct flavor – perhaps a flavored hummus or a bit of spiciness. However, it was overall pleasant and was, in true Austrian style, washed down with a lager.
