I grabbed dinner with some colleagues after a work event at Wooden City Tavern. I was pleased to see that their burger menu allowed for a house made veggie patty substitution and opted for the Fancy Burger–swiss cheese, onion jam, mushrooms, arugula, garlic aioli, and balsamic–with a side of fries. What I was less pleased about what the cost of the burger: $20.50.
The housemade patty was pretty good. It wasn’t particularly unique or amazing, but it was solid. The patty was perhaps just a bit dry, but all of the condiments on the burger helped and everything was only slightly drippy. The fries were good and the serving was generous; I took some home. Overall, this was a good burger but I am not sure I would go back because it seemed overpriced for what it was. The clientele was a bunch of younger people who likely worked in tech who seemed happy to pay for the nice, airy atmosphere indoors. It was fine, just not exactly my scene.
