Chuck’s Burger Press is located alongside Chuck’s Hop Shop, which in turn shares a space with Third Place Books. Good books and good beer! This makes it a great spot to hang out and it’s very popular in the neighborhood. My husband and I went for dinner and a drink and we ended up hanging out with friends who happened to be there.
The menu is pretty simple: burgers, fries and tots, and a couple of different sandwich and salad options. The nice thing is that they offer an Impossible patty for no additional charge. I decided to mix it up today and try their Monster Fries: fries smothered with “zesty cheese”, caramelized onions, “special sauce”, and an Impossible patty. It’s hard to not like fries smothered in stuff and these were fine in a bad junk food kind of way, but they could have been so much better. The zesty cheese was the very bright yellow cheese that comes on cheap nachos and turns a bit rubbery. If that had been subbed out for something nicer, these would have hit the spot. All in all, it was fine but next time I’ll get the veggie smash burger. However, I did enjoy my nitro coffee stout!
