Next Door Gastropub, Port Angeles

Rating: 4 out of 5.

My day had already been quite exciting by lunch time! I had to get up very early to drive from Seattle to Port Angeles for work. The purpose of this was to join a pilot boat as it dropped a pilot at a container ship. Pulling up alongside such a massive boat was an experience! Even better, though, were the orcas that came by after we got back to shore. This was my first ever orca sighting, so I was very happy! After all of this, we needed to get some food while my car topped off its charge for the drive back to Seattle.

We settled on Next Door Gastropub, which had nice outdoor seats. We started with some brussels sprouts, which were quite good. They offer a veggie burger consisting of a house made patty made with kidney beans, artichoke hearts, and ground almonds, topped with pickled pepper aioli, arugula, caramelized onions, and pepperjack cheese, all on a brioche bun. This comes with chips or fries. My portion of fries was quite generous, too. It was a very hearty offering – which is good since it was not the cheapest burger. The patty, which was quite hefty, had a beany taste thanks to its base, but I liked it. It was a bit crumbly, though. All in all, a nice meal.
